Definition: technology trade shows


The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas is the premier tech trade show in the U.S, and every tech product imaginable is featured. CES has run in several cities since 1967. See CES.

Gartner and NVIDIA
The Gartner business and technology advisory firm has been hosting conferences since the late 1990s (see Gartner). NVIDIA has held its GPU trade show since 2009 (see GTC conference).

Press Only
Pepcom and ShowStoppers are for members of the press. Vendors showcase their latest wares at individual events and also within major trade shows (see Pepcom and ShowStoppers).

International Shows
Held in Barcelona, Spain, Mobile World Congress is all about portable devices, including phones, watches and wearables (see Mobile World Congress). A trade show for PC manufacturers has been held in Taiwan since 1980 (see COMPUTEX Taipei), and Berlin has hosted a major consumer electronics show since 1924 (see IFA).

AI Is the Hot Topic
Of course, AI is today's buzzword, but conferences about artificial intelligence date back to the 1950s (see AI conferences).

In the Past
Before CES, COMDEX was the major tech extravaganza in Las Vegas, and CeBIT was a huge affair in Europe until 2018. See COMDEX and CeBIT.
