A robot that has the general appearance of a person. A humanoid robot may have arms and legs with limited motion, and it may provide verbal communication with a finite vocabulary, but it is clearly not mistaken for a person. In the future, such robots are expected to be widely used in health care and assisted living environments. They can also be used in emergencies to retrieve objects in places that would be extremely hazardous for humans. See
