Definition: Cybercab

An autonomous taxicab from Tesla introduced in 2024. The Cybercab is entirely self-driving; there is no steering wheel. Also called a "robotaxi," the Cybercab is a two-door, two-seat vehicle designed for Tesla's ride-hailing business. In 2025, using self-driving Model Y vehicles, taxi trials began in Austin, Texas.

Expected in late 2026, the Cybercab is also planned for dual-purpose ownership, whereby people can use their Cybercabs as their private vehicle but also earn money. For example, after the owner drives to work, the vehicle can be switched to pick up passengers and return at the end of the day. See Tesla, Cybertruck and transportation network company.
