A document such as a bill of sale, stock certificate or license that verifies a person has title to something. Proof of ownership was originally paper documents, which later evolved to the creation of digital files. However, since the advent of blockchain architecture, a new format has emerged in the form of NFTs, which verifies ownership similar to cryptocurrencies. See NFT and blockchain.
