Playing audio/video and displaying photos on a home theater system. Music, movies and images can come from a computer directly attached to the home theater (see
HTPC) or from a media hub that connects to the home network (see
digital media hub).
Directly from the Internet
Movies are also streamed directly from the Internet via the local network without going through a computer. They require a stand-alone media hub such as from Roku or Apple or a smart TV, all of which have built-in apps that access on-demand movie services such as Netflix, Prime Video and Hulu. See
