Definition: hybrid microcircuit

An electronic circuit composed of different types of integrated circuits and discrete components, mounted on a ceramic base. Used in military and communications applications, it is especially suited for building custom analog circuits including A/D and D/A converters, amplifiers and modulators. The hybrid microcircuit evolved into the multichip module (MCM) and, later, the multichip package (MCP). See MCM, MCP and chip package.
