ROUPIE) A person who enjoys being with technical people. The term was coined by Alan Freedman in the 1991 edition of "The Computer Glossary." Freedman, who is the author of this encyclopedia, made up the word to find out which other technical dictionary writers were reading his definitions and picking up new terms.
