A very popular mobile messaging service from Snap Inc. that sends a photo or video to someone that lasts only up to 10 seconds before it disappears. During that time, the recipient can take a screenshot, and the sender is notified that it was taken. Snapchat was introduced in 2011, and three years later, video chat and messaging were added.
In June 2022, a paid Snapchat+ subscription service was added with extra features. For example, Ghost Trails enables users to see where their friends have been for the past 24 hours, providing they share location. Subscribers can see how many friends rewatch posts and also how connected they are to each other on the platform. Within two months, more than one million people were Snapchat+ subscribers.
