Ford Motor Company's first electric pickup. The Lightning is a Ford F-150 pickup truck with an electric motor instead of a gas engine. Depending on battery choice, the vehicle's range is from 230 to 300 miles, and towing capacity is 10,000 pounds. A unique feature in a pickup truck, 14.1 cubic feet of storage is under the hood where the gas engine used to be. Of course, in time, a "frunk" (front trunk) will be commonplace.
Extremely Popular
Introduced in 2022, production was so limited that dealers were routinely asking a ton of extra money to sell their only demo model. By 2024, Lightning pickups became more available. However, at the end of 2025, Ford announced that future Lightning trucks will be plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) rather than EVs and its range will exceed 700 miles. See

Only the Name Plate
The only exterior difference between F-150 gas and electric models is the name. Of course, every truck owner would love this fuel economy. One of the first Lightning EVs in America, in 2022, the sticker price on this model was approximately $47,000, but the price to buy it was almost $100,000.
