Definition: GPT Store
Also called the "ChatGPT App Store," the GPT Store is a marketplace for specialized chatbots based on ChatGPT from OpenAI and third parties. Introduced in late 2023, as of early 2026, OpenAI claimed more than five million versions of GPT had been developed for private use.
Develop for Public Consumption
Paid ChatGPT accounts allow subscribers to develop and publish their own GPT for public use, and at least thirty thousand have been created so far. However, only about a hundred or so "public GPTs" are rotated on the Explore GPTs menu in categories that include Writing, Productivity, Research & Analysis, Education, Lifestyle, DALL-E and Programming.
