A proximity beacon from Google named after the Eddystone lighthouse in the U.K. Developed as an open protocol, Eddystone-UID broadcasts a unique ID (UID) like Apple's iBeacon; however, Eddystone-URL broadcasts URLs that can be viewed in any Bluetooth-enabled phone. Eddystone-TLM sends status data from the sensors at the beacon and Eddystone-EID adds more security. See
