Definition: CCFL


(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) A light source for earlier LCD screens and certain automobile headlights. Also called a "cold cathode fluorescent tube" (CCFT), CCFLs weigh more and use more power than LEDs, which have superseded them. See HCFL, backlight and fluorescent bulb.
