Definition: voxel

(VOlume piXEL) A three-dimensional display element. A voxel represents a quantity of 3D data just as a pixel is a point or cluster of points in 2D data. Voxels are used in scientific and medical applications that process 3D images as well as in 3D games. See pixel.
