(2) A device that allows a portable music player to play through a car's audio system. It broadcasts the output of the player as an FM signal that is picked up by the FM radio while driving. Models offer a choice of FM frequencies in order to find the signal that works best. Prior to 2003, most automobiles did not include a dashboard jack for plugging in an external audio device.
