Definition: wireless electricity


Transmitting electrical energy without wires. Wireless electricity mostly refers to devices that rest in a cradle or on a pad for charging. Transmitting electricity from a power grid without wires over long distance is an emerging technology. Emrod, New Zealand's second-largest power distributor, has sucessfully tested wireless transmission over distances about a hundred feet apart. See wireless charging.
