Definition: wireless electricity


Transmitting electrical energy without wires. As of 2021, wireless electricity mostly refers to devices that rest in a cradle or on a pad for charging. Transmitting electricity from a power grid without wires over long distance is an emerging technology. Emrod, New Zealand's second-largest power distributor has set up a wireless transmission test between relays on poles approximately a hundred feet apart. See wireless charging.
