Definition: v-commerce


(Voice-Commerce) Voice-enhanced services for e-commerce. The term was coined by Nuance Communications as an umbrella term for services including voice-activated dialing and browsing and email reading. It implies speech recognition that goes beyond saying "yes" or "no" or pronouncing a number. Nuance merged with ScanSoft, Inc. in 2005, and the resulting company assumed the Nuance brand.
