Data stored in the user's computer by a website being visited. Tracking cookies ("trackers") are small files placed by third-party advertisers to monitor the user's Web surfing habits. They are generally considered an invasion of privacy; however, a first-party cookie is commonly used to provide a smooth shopping experience (see first-party cookie). See cookie.
