Definition: text box
An on-screen rectangular frame into which text is typed. Text boxes are used in drawing, paint, screen capture and presentation programs. The flexibility of the text box is determined by the software. Sometimes the box expands to accommodate the input. Otherwise, the frame must be widened by the user before typing more text.
A PowerPoint Text Box
The text box expands as the user types. In some applications, the box has to be explicitly widened by the user to allow for more text.
