Base) A database on a blockchain that shows essential account balances that pertain to a smart contract. Every database in the world is able to show changing balances as well as static data. On blockchains such as Ethereum, the prototype for smart contracts, static data are typically in the smart contract and only data that changes are in a state DB. See
