Definition: staking provider

An organization that offers proof-of-stake (PoS) services for blockchains, such as Ethereum 2.0. Staking providers enable people to participate without any blockchain knowledge.

Staking Provider vs. Staking Pools
Using Ethereum as an example, a staking provider, or "staking-as-a-service" provider, enables entities with 32 ETH to participate as a full Ethereum validator but not have to deal with the technicalities.

In contrast, staking pools let people invest smaller amounts of ETH and their rewards are proportionate to their investment percentage. The only requirement is lending the crypto, whether ETH for Ethereum or the crypto required for another blockchain. See Ethereum 2.0 and yield farming.

The Lido Staking Provider
Lido lets people stake their ETH tokens. In late July 2022, these two examples describe the value proposition and annual percentage rate (APR) for two popular blockchains. Lido also supports Polygon, Polkadot and Kusama. See stETH.
