Definition: software KVM

(software Keyboard-Video-Mouse) Switching one mouse and one keyboard between computers. Transmitting signals via the local network, and actually more a "K-M" than "K-V-M," the software KVM is used by people who work with multiple computers on their desk. Because it operates via software in each machine, the software KVM eliminates the need to cable a hardware KVM switch into each device. See KVM switch.
