(1) A thin client environment in which the Web browser is used to run all applications from the Internet or the company intranet. See thin client.

(2) A terminal environment in which the client machine serves as a dumb terminal to a centralized server or mainframe. See Windows Terminal Server, Citrix XenApp and X Window.
