Definition: Google-Fu

The degree of expertise in expressing a query over the Internet to obtain relevant results. Also called "search-fu," having good Google-Fu means knowing how to compose a question that does not deliver superfluous answers. It includes knowing which words to surround with quotes as well as leaving extraneous words out of the search (see quoted search). Google-Fu implies using Google but can refer to any search engine. "Fu" comes from Kung-Fu in Chinese, which means a skill attained via hard work, although it typically implies the martial art. See Google and search engine.
