Internet access via satellites. In 1996, Hughes introduced the first Internet service via satellite and is currently the largest in the U.S. (see
HughesNet). Prior to Hughes' entry, a global satellite-based service was planned by Teledesic, but it never came to fruition (see
Teledesic). Today, Starlink, HugesNet and Viasat are the three top satellite Internet providers (see
