Definition: sapphire glass

A protective, clear glass made from aluminum-oxide powder. More scratch resistant than Gorilla Glass, sapphire glass has been used on camera lenses, expensive watches and, for years, on the screens of Vertu's handmade phones. Starting with the iPhone 6, it is also used to cover the phone's camera lens and fingerprint scanner (home button). See Gorilla Glass.
