Definition: renderable text

Text characters in a document that are stored as vectors (mathematical coordinates). Renderable text can be structured as font characters, which represent specific letters (a, b, c, etc.) or as pure line drawings that contain no knowledge of which character they represent. The term is used to contrast such text with text that is contained within a bitmapped image, which is merely displayed on screen without any major conversion.
