Definition: quantum superposition

The capability of being in more than one state at the same time. Whereas a classical bit is either a 0 or 1, a quantum computing bit (the "qubit") can be both a 0 and a 1 or any value in between at the same time. Meaning "many possibilities," superposition enables quantum computers to make calculations exponentially faster than even supercomputers. See quantum computing.
