Definition: quantum leap

A quantum leap implies a significant advance or improvement in something. For example, "this version is a quantum leap from the last."

An Oxymoron
A quantum leap is a contradiction in terms because its meaning is exactly the opposite from which the phrase was derived. A true quantum leap, which comes from physics, is about an electron changing its level within the atom, the tiniest change of state that exists in the universe. See quantum mechanics and quantum computing.
