3 C's. "Processing" is appended to a variety of terms, but the word itself implies a computer or computer-based device "doing work."
Processing Takes Place in Memory
Performed by the device's central processing unit (CPU) and controlled by the operating system, processing includes retrieving instructions and data from storage into memory, executing the instructions in memory that manipulate the data in memory and storing changes. Processing also includes all I/O from storage to memory and vice versa and memory to printer, screen and network. See
