Open weight AI makes the current parameters of an AI neural network public. When a AI model is made open weight, researchers can test for harmful behavior and bias. In contrast, an "open-source AI" system makes all the internal architecture public, including training data, layers, connections and the algorithms used to modify the model's parameters. See
