Definition: open weight AI vs. open-source AI

Open weight AI makes the current parameters of an AI neural network public. When an AI model is made open weight, researchers can test for harmful behavior and bias. In contrast, an "open-source AI" system makes all the internal architecture public, including training data, layers, connections and the algorithms used to modify the model's parameters. See open-source AI.
