Definition: one-click ordering

The ability to purchase merchandise over the Internet by clicking a single button on a Web page after selecting merchandise. In 1999, Amazon.com was issued a patent on "1-Click," described as "Method and system for placing a purchase order via a communications network." When a person's name, address and credit card number are stored on the vendor's Web server, it is very easy to make purchases.
