Definition: Substack

A digital newsletter publication platform. Launched in 2017, Substack enables writers to create a publication and solicit readers to open a free or paid subscription. While journalists use Substack to target local politics and news, many write personal articles and stories. Thousands of people have created newsletters on Substack, and although millions of people read them, more than half a million are paying subscribers.
