Adding the "nano" word onto products to give them a sense of high tech. Around the turn of the century, nanotechnology was a hot topic and just like AI today, the nano term was added to existing products simply to add a sense of high tech (see below). See

Nano = Small
However, the nano term is commonly used to mean just plain small and not a product of nanotechnology (see
iPod nano and
Gemini Nano).
Just Small, Nothing More
This mouse transceiver from Microsoft protruded only a quarter inch from the USB port, hence the nano name. Of course, one could say every electronic device with a chip is nanotechnology, and it would not be untrue.
