Redirected from: multipoint pairing

Definition: Bluetooth pairing

Establishing a connection between two Bluetooth devices. For example, to pair a headset with a phone, the phone is configured to "Discoverable" mode and the headset is set up to pair by pressing one or more keys for some number of seconds. The headset finds the phone and establishes a connection using an assigned passkey (pairing code), which can be as simple as 0000.

Multipoint Pairing
For people who routinely use a Bluetooth headset with more than one phone, multipoint pairing is essential. It allows them to pair the headset with two or more phones, eliminating the delay in setting up a connection each time. See Bluetooth glossary and Car Whisperer.

Bluetooth Speaker Pairing
It's not always this simple. Just pressing the PAIR button on this 808 CANZ Bluetooth portable speaker starts the pairing process. (Image courtesy of VOXX International.)
