Definition: multihomed

Having two or more network connections to the same type of network. For example, a server may have two connections to the same LAN segment in order to improve performance or connect to two different segments that are not allowed to communicate with each other. Connecting a network to two ISPs for fault tolerance is also called multihomed. See dual-homed host.
