Definition: MVNO

(Mobile Virtual Network Operator) A reseller of wireless services. MVNOs do not own licensed spectrum and do not have their own wireless network infrastructure. Like landline telephone resellers, they sell service under their own brand but use the facilities of mainstream carriers such as AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. Consumer Cellular, Ting Mobile and Google Fi are examples of MVNOs.

Xfinity Mobile
Comcast's Xfinity Mobile (XM) is a high-profile MVNO because of Comcast's size. Starting in 2018, Comcast began to offer its residential Internet customers cellular service that uses the Verizon network. Fees are very competitive because XM serves as a bonus for existing Comcast customers. See Xfinity and cellphone services.
