Definition: mDL

(Mobile Driver's License) A driver's license contained in an app on a smartphone or other mobile device. An mDL is updated automatically when changes are made. In North America, the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) heads the mDL effort, and states in the U.S. are in various levels of development to support this initiative.
