Definition: micro-holographic

A defunct holographic storage method from General Electric (GE). For about a decade starting in the late 1990s, there was interest in holographic storage. In 2009, GE announced micro-holographic discs that would store 500GB using drives that would also play Blu-ray, DVD and CD media. However, hard drive capacities were increasing rapidly at the same time, and it never took off. See holographic storage.
