Definition: long tap


To press a touchscreen and hold it for a second or two. The long tap activates different functions than a short tap and let go. It is the touchscreen counterpart to a long press, whereby the mouse button is held down for a short time. See long press.




Long Tap to Copy or Paste
Tapping the screen and holding brings up the Copy/Paste menu on this Android phone. The highlighted text can be expanded by moving the blue teardrops (arrow). After selecting Copy and switching to an app that accepts text, a long tap brings up the menu again, and Paste can be selected.
