Definition: light bloom

(1) For the condition occurring in earlier CCD devices, see blooming.

(2) A lighting effect generated in video games that shows a bright light around the edges of objects that are blocking most of the light at a given moment. Also called "glow," in the days of CRT terminals, the light bloom effect occurred naturally; however, today, it has to be created for modern computer screens. See video game.
