An application that runs on Windows PCs. Myriad apps fall into this category; essentially every program written for Windows all the way back to 1990 and the first popular version of Windows (Windows 3.0). The term arose because of Windows RT tablets. Windows RT is a separate version of Windows that runs only RT applications. Therefore, RT tablets cannot run legacy Windows apps. See
