Maintaining electronic systems and computer-based information systems while also preventing failure caused by adversaries. In the military spectrum, information operations (IO) support defensive and offensive operations, the latter more commonly known as "information warfare." In the business sector, there is no legal basis for offensive operations. See information warfare.
