Definition: iPhone notch
The black area at the top of iPhone screens that houses the front camera, top speaker and face scanner. The notch debuted with the iPhone X in 2017 but was replaced with the Dynamic Island on iPhone 14 Pro models in 2022. See Dynamic Island and iPhone 15.
