Definition: guest network

A hotspot in a wireless router that is available to visitors. The guest network may or may not be the default; however, when active it allows guests access to the Internet but not the home network. It has a separate hotspot name (SSID), which is typically "guest" or something similar, and it is configured with its own password. The guest password is typically chosen to be much simpler than the user's private hotspot password. See Xfinity hotspot and wireless router.
