(GNU Compiler Collection) A popular compiler from the GNU Project that is used in Linux and Unix environments as well as in gaming and embedded platforms such as Symbian, Freescale Power Architecture and Playstation. The "cc" originally meant "C Compiler," but was changed to "Compiler Collection" after it was enhanced to support additional programming languages, including C++, Objective-C, Fortran, Pascal and Java.
