Definition: HDMI 1.4a


An upgrade to the HDMI 1.4 interface that added formats for 3D broadcasting (see below). The frame packing method combines left and right frames into one without any loss of resolution. The side-by-side and top-and-bottom methods halve the horizontal and vertical resolution, respectively, to combine the two frames into one for broadcast transmission.
