A self-contained flash storage system comprising solid state flash drives (SSDs). A flash appliance is designed for SSDs and is more space efficient in a datacenter than a storage array that can also accommodate hard disks. Flash appliances may also feature RAID striping, replication and deduplication. The terms flash appliance and "flash array" are used synonymously. See
