Definition: fileless malware

Malware that exists in RAM and is deleted when the power is turned off or the system is rebooted. Fileless malware is therefore undetectable using digital forensics. Fileless malware typically infects a computer via phishing or macros rather than by downloading an executable file. See computer forensics, phishing, macro and malware.
